Where to recycle fluorescent lights now
The producer-financed recycling program will start in January 2013. Until then, some programs are available for residents to recycle fluorescent lights – often for a fee.
You can recycle fluorescent lights at Take It Back Network locations and other drop-off sites. Please make sure to check ahead of time about what type of lights are accepted and costs.
Take It Back Networks are made up of retailers that provide residents with opportunities to responsibly recycle fluorescent lights. King County collaborated with retailers to create a Take It Back Network for fluorescent lights, and Zero Waste Washington worked with Pierce County and Tacoma to launch a similar Network. The Snohomish County PUD has also established take-back locations for compact fluorescent lights.
